Ellis Island was a piece commissioned for the opening of that museum and later appeared as an installation at White Columns Gallery in New York City. The composition of this work corresponds to the façade of the main building, which had been recently restored.  Onto this structure I have collaged bits of text from the documents used by my father and grandparents to enter this country. Their ghostly images, taken from old photographs, appear in the doorways.
