Imag­in­ing Egypt was a large instal­la­tion piece about a can­celled trip to Egypt. The text comes from Flaubert’s descrip­tions of Egypt pri­or to his actu­al trav­els to that coun­try; the room cor­re­sponds to the one in the hos­pi­tal room where I was attend­ing my father; and the scale of the com­po­si­tion was based on great pyra­mid of Giza. The slides pro­ject­ed onto the draw­ing were tak­en on a lat­er trip.
